First “Sutudo” lilies presented to the ambassador of Vietnam in the Netherlands

On September 30th, 2024, mr. Paul Onings presented the first bunch of “Sutudo” lilies to the ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Netherlands, mr. Ngô Hướng Nam, at the Vietnamese embassy in the Hague.

This is following up the babtizing ceremony of this new lily that took place in November 2023 at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. The certificate for registering the variety was signed by representatives of the Vietnamese embassy in the Netherlands, the LVVN Attaché in Vietnam, the Royal General Bulb Growers’ Association and Onings Holland Flowerbulbs.

This lily was babtized as a celebration of 50 years of trading relationship between Vietnam and the Netherlands. Sutudo (Sư tử đỏ) means Red Lion in Vietnamese. This name is a combination of the Red Vietnamese flag and the Dutch lion.
