From Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 June, Onings Holland Flowerbulbs will once again open the doors of their trial greenhouse in Honselersdijk during the Dutch Lily Days. During this period, the world’s largest assortment of lilies will be in bloom – a unique opportunity for everyone active in the international lily sector.
The trial greenhouse will showcase around 600 varieties and more than 4,000 batches from different suppliers. Nearly all varieties will be flowering during the Dutch Lily Days, making it the ideal location to view, assess and, above all, compare cultivars side by side. Differences in color, uniformity and presentation become immediately visible here, providing valuable information for future decisions.
Lily League: a key voting moment for the market
The Lily League will once again play a central role during the event this year. Now held for the ninth time, the competition has become an established benchmark for developments within the market. Which varieties stand out? Are preferences shifting? Each year, the results provide an up-to-date overview of trends within the sector.
Voting is possible during a visit to the trial greenhouse, but can also be done online in advance. Via the lily database on the Onings Holland website, visitors can easily search for their favourite variety. A voting button can be found on the product page of each variety, after which four additional names can be selected. Shortly after the Dutch Lily Days, the Top 50 for 2026 will be announced.
From greenhouse to vase
There will also be an extended vase life test during the Dutch Lily Days. Selected varieties are monitored after harvest to provide additional insight into vase life and presentation throughout the supply chain. These trials will be presented separately and can be assessed by visitors themselves.
While viewing the lily trials, the event also provides opportunities to meet and exchange knowledge with colleagues from both the Netherlands and abroad. Seeing the product in full bloom and being able to compare varieties directly creates an updated and highly practical overview of the market offering.
Visitors arriving on Tuesday morning are invited to join for a breakfast in the trial greenhouse – a nice start the day before the official opening of the Dutch Lily Days. Naturally, visitors are also welcome to stay for lunch, as on all days of the show.
